At the end of last year, German videogame company Redspot Games released "Sturmwind", a fast paced shoot-em-up. Think R-Type or Twinbee.
From Motherboard.TV: "The Dreamcast itself is frequently regarded as one of the most cherished underdogs in console videogame history — Armed with a vast arsenal of fantastic games and ahead-of-the-curve tech, the Dreamcast’s only weakness was it’s severe misfortune in being released just prior to the market-devouring PlayStation 2. But since so many publishers jumped on board early on during its short run, the Dreamcast’s software library has become a sort of ‘lost vault’ of obscure gems, tinged with undiscovered nostalgia yet still up to snuff graphics-wise to keep newer players interested.
Die-hard fans of Sega’s ‘last stand’ in the console wars will argue that the system never even had a chance in North America and Europe, but it did quite well in Japan, where Sega continued to manufacture and sell the console all the way up until 2006. Hopefully the release of Sturmwind will alert more players to the magnificence of Sega’s underplayed-but-not-forgotten game machine."
