Some called for a boycott of his company, most were offended. As anger mounted, Cole tweeted an apology. Now there is an apology up on Facebook and the original tweet has been removed:
I apologize to everyone who was offended by my insensitive tweet about the situation in Egypt. I've dedicated my life to raising awareness about serious social issues, and in hindsight my attempt at humor regarding a nation liberating themselves against oppression was poorly timed and absolutely inappropriate.

Also, check out the bitter, real-world prank on Kenneth Cole. Definitely in better taste than Kenneth Cole's Tweet.
