de Blob 2 Slamming a Console Near You

De Blob was definitely one of my favorite Wii games. It was just so innovative, different, and positive. It was cute, and yet, with Wii controls, it was very fun.

So it's with much excitement that I advise that de Blob 2 is coming on February 22nd.

The original de Blob took place in "Chroma City" where the INKT Corporation had taken over all the land, removing all the "hideous" colour. The citizens, called Raydians, understandably became automatons, depressed by their monochromatic oppressors. It was your job, as part of a resistance group of blobs called Color Underground, to restore color to the land and overthrow Comrade Black and INKT.

The whole concept of playing a video game that was essentially a large three dimensional coloring book was tremendously appealing to my artist within.

While the controls on the first game were on a steep learning curve, once you got the hang of it, it was very satisfying and fun to control. On the one hand, I'm not entirely sure how it will translate to a less "intereactive" control scheme. On the other hand, I'm happy to see that it garnered enough attention to be expanded to other platforms and also, it will be awesome to see de Blob with updated graphics.
Interestingly, de Blob was brought to life by nine University students in Holland as a class project. THQ and Blue Tongue fine tuned it after seeing it's potential.

I'm not sure how this upcoming video game announcement slipped past me, but then again, it's always exciting to hear that something you love is coming out and you have less than a week to wait.
